Thaksin hints at gradual approach on Japanese steel imports
Heads of Japan automobile and auto-part associations warned Thailand yesterday carmakers might pull out of Bt41 billion worth of planned investments here if it fails to cut tariffs on steel and vehicles under a bilateral trade agreement.
Speaking after meeting with Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Japan Automobile Association (JAMA) chairman Itaru Koeda said a gradual tariff cut didn make sense to Japan.

Thailand\\\'s imports rose to a record US$10.67 billion in March, up 29.8 per cent year on year, while exports surged 20.3 to US$9.58 billion, according to preliminary data provided by the customs department Monday.
